‘Mulled wine’ smoothie

It’s been a while since I posted a new smoothie recipe.

They’re amazing for packing nutrients into your body at the start of the day – fill them up with fruit and large handfuls of veg and you’ve got a delicious healthy treat to fuel your body with at breakfast.

So, knowing the inevitable spread of overindulgence that awaits us all tomorrow (not that I’m complaining at all!), I thought I’d create a seasonal smoothie treat to fuel the body with on Christmas morning.

Introducing my ‘mulled wine’ smoothie!

Obviously this has zero alcohol in it, but it does have mulled wine seasoning and plenty of fruit and veg.

Hope you enjoy as much as I did creating it!

Mulled wine smoothie


  • 1 cup of mixed redcurrants and red grapes
  • a good squeeze of fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • large handful of kale (or spinach, or kale and spinach mixed!)
  • 3/4-1 cup of almond milk (depending on how thick you like your smoothies)
  • a dollop of honey


De-seed the redcurrants if desired, and freeze with the grapes the night before.

On Christmas morning, place all of the ingredients into a large blender, blend, serve and enjoy!
