I had to pop the kettle on for this weekend’s green smoothie – a green tea smoothie with mint, lime and kale.
If you’re not convinced that green tea would work in a smoothie, let me reassure you now that you can barely taste it in this one but you still get all of its awesome health benefits.
Combine it with ‘the queen of greens’ (kale), some mint leaves, strawberries and a squeeze of lime juice and you have a fantastic morning pick-me-up packed with antioxidants and vitamins.
I chilled my green tea in the fridge overnight for this recipe but you could pour it into an ice cube tray and freeze along with the strawberries for an extra cool, refreshing drink.
Give it a try – you won’t regret it!
For one glass of smoothie you’ll need:
- 1/2 a mug of green tea (cooled and without the teabag, obvs!)
- A handful of kale
- 5-10 frozen strawberries
- 1/2 a banana
- 1/2 a cup of natural yoghurt
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 2-3 mint leaves
Pop the ingredients in a blender, blend, serve and enjoy!
