When I was younger, I never understood why adults found Christmas stressful.
That’s probably because I’d spend the run up to the big day happily watching my mum make the Christmas cake while I licked the bowl, or decorating the Christmas tree rather than worrying about what was going underneath it.
But now that I’m an adult, there’s one core part of Christmas that I am starting to understand the stress of – the Christmas card conundrum. (more…)
Let me introduce you to an oft neglected aspect of the Christmas Day dinner – the Christmas vegetables.
In my opinion, the veg part of the traditional turkey table gets a pretty bad rep. They’re usually blandly boiled or roasted – and anything green is automatically out (no one ever wants to eat more sprouts than they need to!) Then there’s the potato overload. I can’t think of any other time of year when I wouldn’t feel guilty about eating double potatoes, but at Christmas I always go for a good helping of roasted and mashed!
The Christmas decorations are finally up!
If I had my way, the flat would be festive from December 1. But being married to a man with a mid-December birthday means delaying the lights and tinsel until after the birthday celebrations are over.
I suppose that’s fair enough, but I still can’t help feeling a tad jealous when other people start posting tree selfies on Facebook before I’ve even got mine out of the cupboard!
For the last recipe in my 25 days of blogmas Christmas hamper series, I thought I’d bring you a Christmas hamper classic with a festive twist.
I loved cooking up this homemade figgy pudding chilli jam recipe. Hopefully it’ll make for a delicious seasonal treat for someone you love this Christmas too!
How do you get ready for Christmas? Are you an early planner or a last-minute prepper?
I like to think of myself as somewhere between the two, although the festivities are fast creeping up on me this year! That’s why, this week, I donned my metaphorical elf hat and spent some time off busy getting ready for the big day.
Here’s my ‘day in the life’…
They may not look perfect, but these almond butter strawberry Santas are perfectly delicious!
As well as being super simple to make, they’re a nice break from the never-ending sugar storm that is the festive season. I reckon the little guys would make a great addition to a Christmas gift hamper too.
I never thought I’d say this, but I have a fitness wishlist.

It was only about 18 months ago that I was basically completely sedentary, and only 12 months ago that I had a knee injury so painful I was questioning whether I’d ever do high-impact exercise again.
Remember blogmas day six, ‘My ways to a worry free Christmas‘?
Well, I’ve found another way to relax in seasonal style – an essential oils Christmas blend!
It was only a few months ago that I was still buying my granola in boxes.
I had never thought about making it myself, but it’s so easy! Plus, you know exactly what’s going in it. Plus, plus – you can tailor its taste to make a perfect homemade Christmas hamper gift. Here’s what you’ll need.
OK people, let’s talk Christmas playlists.
It’s kind of a contentious one in our household. My music taste is inherently ‘poppy’, Mr Rinroad’s is inherently not!
So, after much to-ing and fro-ing (not over the playlist as a whole, just whether or not it should feature a Mariah Carey classic!) last year we settled on the perfect compromise Christmas playlist.
